Yes, NW Power and Air only employs licensed electricians, and our owner Brian Gaines has been a licensed and experienced electrician in the Olympia, WA area since 2018.
Your circuit breaker may be tripping for several reasons:
- You have a circuit overload. A circuit can become overloaded when an electrical wire/circuit receives more amperage than it is intended to handle, or loose or corroded wires or connections may cause it.
- You have a short circuit. A short circuit happens when a hot or active electrical wire and a neutral wire touch, causing a large amount of current to flow and overload the circuit. Loose connections, slipped wires, or animals chewing on wires can also cause a short circuit.
- You have a ground fault. A ground fault happens when a hot or active wire makes contact with the ground wire, a grounded portion of the junction box, or a grounded area of an appliance. When a hot wire and a ground wire make contact, large amounts of current go through the circuit breaker, causing it to trip.
Contact NW Power and Air for all circuit breaker needs today.
If your circuit breaker keeps tripping, it may be a sign that there is something wrong with your circuit. Don’t ignore it because it could be a fire hazard. Have a professional look at it. Call NW Power and Air today to schedule service.
You may need your electrical wiring replaced if your home is older than 30 years old and has the original wiring with dated rubber, fabric, or lead-insulated cabling. Call NW Power and Air to update your home’s wiring system to ensure it is safe and code-complaint.
You’ll also want to update your wiring if it appears frayed. Frayed wires are a fire hazard and should be replaced immediately.

During a utility power outage, an automatic backup generator provides numerous advantages over a portable generator:
- The American Red Cross recommends permanently installed backup generators as a safer way to provide backup power to a home than a portable generator.
- With an automatic backup generator properly installed outside, your home is protected from deadly carbon monoxide poisoning, a much greater risk with portable generators.
- Running on the home’s natural gas or LP fuel supply is less expensive than gasoline, and sources such as natural gas do not need to be refilled.
- They start automatically within seconds of a power outage and eliminate the need to haul a portable generator outside or run extension cords throughout your home.
- They provide protection 24/7, whether you’re home or away, and they turn themselves off when utility power returns, so there is no need to monitor the unit during an outage.
No. The generator fuel costs would be much more expensive than buying power from the utility company since their cost to produce electricity is divided among thousands of customers. Our automatic generators are produced explicitly as a backup to utility power and should not be used as primary power. Please refer to the warranty policy for additional information. You can find a copy of the warranty on the Product Support page.
As an option, Generac offers the Guardian Series systems prepackaged and pre-wired with comprehensive installation instructions. You could perform the simpler preparation steps and have a professional make the electrical panel and fuel connections, or you could complete the entire installation yourself. However, for safety reasons and to ensure adherence to all local, state and national electrical codes, particularly for non pre-wired or larger systems, Generac recommends that you use an authorized Generac dealer or licensed contractor. When selecting a site, always follow the guidelines in the Site Selection and Preparation section of your unit’s installation manual.
Most portable generators do come with a rechargeable battery. However, our standby units do not. But don’t worry about where to find a battery—a standard car battery you can get at your auto parts store will be compatible.
Any Authorized Generac dealer can perform warranty service.
No, the cost of the Generac home backup generator does not include installation.
Every home is different, and so is every installation. The placement of the generator, the amount of materials required, and the installation of the natural gas or LP fuel source make estimating installation costs unique. A simple installation might cost about $2,000, but it can be more than that, depending upon your specific situation. The best way to know for sure is to get a free in-home assessment. We’ll listen to your needs, assess your home, and give you a detailed quote–all at no charge, with no obligation and no pressure. We also encourage you to use our Sizer Calculator to ensure you get the best generator for your needs! (Note: installation cost estimate shown does not include taxes and permits.)
We recommend at least 250 gallons for our Generac automatic standby units. However, every home is different, and so is every installation and set-up. We recommend that you get a free in-home assessment to help determine the best setup for your needs. In-Home Assessments are available to you at no charge, with no obligation and no pressure.
We also encourage you to use our Sizer Calculator to ensure you get the best generator for your needs!
We recommend contacting your gas provider or a licensed plumber, and they will be able to size the gas line for you. Gas pipe size depends on the length of run from the source and how many elbows and Ts there are.

All generators require periodic maintenance, such as oil and filter changes, to ensure maximum performance for years of reliable service. Scheduled maintenance kits are available, and many Generac authorized dealers offer annual maintenance contracts for a worry-free ownership experience. We recommend you have your unit serviced every 6 months by an authorized independent service dealer. Refer to the owner’s manual for routine maintenance procedures and schedules.
